Scents

We recommend the following to get the most from your RBCo. products.

Candle Care

Our candles are designed and tested to perform safely and consistently when used as intended and in accordance with the guidelines below. Proper care will ensure an even burn, optimal scent throw, and maximum candle life.

  • First Burn
On the first burn, allow the candle to burn long enough for the wax to melt fully across the surface to the edge of the vessel. This typically takes 2–3 hours depending on candle size and helps prevent tunnelling.
  • Wick Trimming
Before each burn, trim the wick to approximately 5mm. This helps control flame height, reduces soot and smoking, and supports an even melt pool.
  • Burn Duration
Do not burn your candle for more than 3–4 hours at a time. Extinguish, allow the wax to cool completely, trim the wick, and relight if required.
  • Extinguishing
Extinguish the flame gently. Avoid blowing forcefully, which can cause smoke or hot wax splatter. A wick dipper or snuffer is recommended.
  • Placement
Always place candles on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from drafts, open windows, fans, or air conditioning. Air movement can cause uneven burning and excess soot.
  • Environment
Candles perform best in a room-temperature environment. Burning in very cold conditions may affect melt pool formation and overall performance.
  • Safety
Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep away from children, pets, and flammable materials. Do not move the candle while burning or while wax is hot.
  • Storage
When not in use, keep candles covered with the lid and store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
  • If You Experience Issues
If your candle does not perform as expected despite following these care instructions, please contact us with details and photos where possible. We will review the issue and assist accordingly.

Candle Disclaimer

Candles must be used as intended and in accordance with the care and safety guidelines above; Richmond Botanicals is not responsible for damage or injury resulting from misuse or unattended burning.

Soap Care

To extend the life of your soap, allow it to dry fully between uses. Store bars on a soap dish that allows water to drain away. Soap left sitting in water will soften and break down more quickly.

Our Huon Pine soap dishes, or any holder with drainage holes or slats, are suitable.

Our bars are generously sized. Some customers choose to cut them in half, using one piece at a time.

All soaps are cured for a minimum of six weeks and are ready to use. Over time, soap continues to dry and harden, which can improve longevity in use. Unused bars may be stored unwrapped in open air, a drawer, or a cupboard.

Diffuser Care

Place diffusers away from direct sunlight and heat sources to maintain scent quality.

Flip reeds weekly to encourage even scent diffusion. Wash hands after handling reeds to avoid contact with skin or surfaces.

Skincare Care

Store products in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Keep lids tightly closed when not in use to prevent contamination and degradation.

Use within six months of opening. For best results, apply with clean, dry hands or a spatula.
